SPRING 2009
Newsletter #5

As our 65th summer approaches, we are asking for your continued support for Camp Amy Molson. Many of our campers are recommended through social service agencies and would never have the chance to attend camp without your help. We receive funding from Centraide and other public sources but we must rely on our individual donors to cover the balance of $250 per child each session.

Camp Amy Molson provides children with 14 days of outdoor fun and summer camp activities along with the opportunity to develop self-confidence, to build lasting friendships and to make considerable gains in self-esteem and independence. They return home with a sense of accomplishment and cherish the many happy memories.

We are constantly striving to further develop our program. Last summer we implemented a Leaders in Training (L.I.T) program for boys and girls age 13. Historically, the age of our campers was 5-12 years. However, there is a big gap between 12 and being old enough to be a camp counselor in training (C.I.T). Some of these 12 year old inner-city children are in high risk environments and we felt they would benefit from another summer with us. The response to the program was so positive that we had a waiting list for every session. These 13 year old Leaders in Training became positive role models for our younger campers. The benefits spread into the community with some of our youth becoming involved with volunteer opportunities. We plan to make the LIT program part of our regular camp program again this season.

Your donation will make it possible for us to offer these wonderful camping sessions, which provide children with a happy, healthy holiday with good food, good fun and, most importantly, loving care each day.

Thank you for your ongoing support and interest in Camp Amy Molson. We look forward to hearing from you.

Note: Are you a former camper or staff member of Camp Amy Molson? If so please check out our 65th reunion section on our web site.

We look forward to catching up and sharing camp memories with you on September 20, 2009!
